The Story of Wicked

“Wicked” is a vivid telling of all that happened before Dorothy made her way to the Land of Oz. It tells the story of two unlikely friends, Elphaba, a smart and fiery girl born with emerald skin, and Glinda, a popular, cheery blonde. Told from the perspective of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch, the musical explores their friendship and the struggles that unravel as time goes on. From clashes with one another’s personality differences, to difficulties with the Wizard's corrupt government, find out what leads to Elphaba’s public fall from grace, as they both come of age.

About Gershwin Theatre

The Gershwin opened as the Uris Theater in the winter of 1972 with the musical “Via Galactica”. Situated on the lower levels of the 48-storeyed Paramount Plaza building, the theater stands where once the iconic Capitol Theater stood. The name of the theater was changed from the Uris Theater to the Gershwin Theater during a ceremony held during the 37th Tony Awards held in 1983. The Gershwin Theater is an Art Nouveau style theater that was designed by set designer Ralph Alswang, and has a seating capacity of 1933.
