Sydney Opera House Reopening Date - 29th October 2020

The Sydney Opera House is excited to announce its reopening on 29th October 2020. With an all new range of live performances, events and dining experiences being spread out, find out everything you need to know before visiting the venue.

Safety Measures in place at Sydney Opera House

To ensure a safe and comfortable visit, capacity has been reduced to 50%. Physical distanced theatre seating will be followed with a minimum of one empty seat between groups. Visitors aged 12 and above must wear face masks while attending a performance inside the venue.

Signs and floor markings have been installed at various points which needs to be abided by all guests. There are separate entry and exit points. Bag-checks and security screenings will be conducted while maintaining a social distance of 1.5 meters. A safe distance needs to be followed even after visitors enter the venue as well.

All areas will be regularly cleaned and sanitized, this includes all common touch points using hospital-grade disinfectant. Hand sanitizing stations have been installed at all paths of travel which can be easily accessed during your visit.

Extensive safety training have been provided to staff working at all sectors including operational, frontline, contract staff, as well as on site Covid-19 Safe Hygiene Marshals. The Opera House and its food and beverage venues are registered as Covid Safe Businesses with the NSW Government. While the theater bars will remain open, refreshments sold will not be allowed into the theater.

Lift access will remain operational giving more priority to less-mobile visitors. The cloakroom will be open to all but guests are requested to travel light and leave large, bulky items at home.

It is highly recommended to download the COVIDSafe app, as per government advice.

Booking Sydney Opera House Tickets Online

Tickets for Sydney Opera House are available here.
It is highly encouraged to book your tickets in advance before arriving at the venue. Tickets will mostly be sold in multiples of two, with limited allocations of single tickets and odd numbered groupings of tickets also made available.

Guests who are dining at the Opera House restaurant or attending a tour, will require to sign in using the QR code or in writing. You can have a maximum of 10 guests per booking and table.

If you’re booking tickets for other guests, you will be responsible for maintaining their contact details for the purpose of contact tracing, if required.

Contactless payment will be accepted at the venue. Guests are free to bring their debit/credit card for any onsite purchases.
