The Show has Closed

“School of Rock: The Musical” is the story of an out-of-work rockstar, Dewey Finn, who has been kicked out of his band and is short of money with an accumulating house rent. To make ends meet, he falsely takes on the job of a substitute teacher in a prestigious prep school. Upon discovering that his students have immense musical talent, he enlists them in an outrageous rock band competition.

Music from “School Of Rock” features original songs from the movie as well as additional compositions from the Andrew Lloyd Webber. A brilliant Broadway performance by a new star and a monster rock score make “School of Rock: The Musical” one of the hottest family shows on Broadway.

The Story

Dewey Finn is the ex-guitarist of the band ‘No Vacancy’, from which he has been kicked out after a spat with the lead singer. With the prestigious Battle of the Bands coming up and no source of income to pay his accumulating rent, Dewey finds himself in a bit of bother until the day he receives a call from Rosalie Mullins. Miss Mullins happens to be the principal of a prestigious school and is looking for a substitute teacher named Ned. Figuring out that this could be a chance to get his hands on some money, Dewey takes on the role of Mr. Ned and finds himself teaching a class of 13 young children.

Upon discovering the musical talent present in his students, Dewey decides to mentor them and polish their art so that they can form a band and participate in the Battle of the Bands. But will Dewey and his band win the battle without the principal finding out? Head out to the Winter Garden Theater and find it out for yourself.

About Winter Garden Theatre

Constructed in 1896, the Winter Garden Theatre officially opened in 1911 with the production of Vera Violetta and has since become home to many iconic Broadway productions. Twelve years after the theatre opened, Herbert J. Krapp completed a major renovation of the interior to bring in an Adamesque style, like other Shubert Organization theatres. In 2001, after Cats closed, architect Francesca Russo restored the theatre to its Twenties’ splendour.
