Phoenix Theatre Stalls

This is the closest section to the stage and therefore offers some of the best views in the auditorium. There are a total of 19 rows starting from A to S. The layout is pretty traditional; the entire section is divided into 2 halves by a central aisle. Unlike most other theaters, the rows in this section are straight and not curved thereby obscuring the view ever so slightly. As is the problem with most Stalls sections’, the people sitting in the first couple of rows will have to look up at the stage, given their proximity to it. This problem dissipates from Row C onwards.

Phoenix Theatre Dress Circle

The Dress Circle is the second largest section of the theater and is similar in layout to the Stalls i.e, central aisle dividing the section into 2. This section comprises of 10 rows from A-K. The Dress Circle hangs above the Stalls and therefore provides a full view of the stage. The seats towards the centre of the rows offer the best views while the seats towards the end of the rows offer more legroom. This section as a whole, does not feel far away from the stage, with even the rear rows providing good views.

Phoenix Theatre Upper Circle

This is the section furthest away from the stage, and hence has the cheapest tickets. With 9 rows from A-J, the Upper Circle is the smallest section of the theater. It follows the same layout as the other two sections. Given the size of the theater, this section is not as far as it seems and offers good views of the stage, however, the rear rows look down at the stage. The first couple of rows have a slightly obstructed view due to the presence of railings and lighting rigs. This problem ceases to exist from Row C. If you have any budgetary restrictions, but still want to enjoy the experience of a West End show, this is the section for you.

Which Seats Offer The Best View?

Even though the Phoenix is a rather small theater and all the seats do have a decent view of the stage, there are certain sections and subsections of seats which are head and shoulders above the rest. The middle rows in the Stalls, particularly from Row C - Row F have breathtaking views of the stage as they are not too far from the action and neither too close.

In the Dress Circle, it would be wise to go for seats towards the centre of the rows. As the rows are not curved, the views are not as great from the sides. The highest rated seats in the Dress Circle from fellow audiences include: A15-A24, B9-B14 and D14-D16. In the Upper Circle section, you want to avoid the first two rows as the views from here might be slightly obstructed. And again, like the Dress Circle, you want to ensure that you get seats in the middle of the rows rather than the sides.

Which Seats Offer the Best Value for Money?

In the Stalls Section, you can book seats from rows F-M. Also the first couple of rows in this section are priced slightly cheaper as you may have to look up towards the stage, given how close you are to it.

The Upper Circle generally has a good view of the stage, apart from the first couple of rows. The Phoenix is not that big a theater, so even if you are sitting in the highest section, your view will be decent considering you are looking straight down at the stage. However, it is best to avoid seats that are at the end of the rows in all sections.
