Based on the 2005 British film inspired by true events, "Kinky Boots" tells the inspiring story of Charlie Price. Having inherited a shoe factory from his father, the Northampton shoemaker forms an unlikely partnership with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots and save the business with a wildly flamboyant clientele. In the process, Charlie and Lola discover that they are not so different after all. Adapted for stage by Broadway veteran, Harvey Fierstein, "Kinky Boots" features 16 original hits by pop icon Cyndi Lauper. The Sydney Morning Herald deems it “dazzling, sassy and uplifting”!
The Story
"Kinky Boots" tells the story of a young Northampton man named Charlie Price who unexpectedly inherits his father's nearly bankrupt shoe factory. Desperate to save the business, Charlie meets a drag entertainer, the fabulous Lola. In need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola helps Charlie. The unlikely team pair up to turn the factory around and, before long, discover they have more in common than either of them expected.
