The stalls account for the biggest section in the theatre with 359 seats, starting from Row AA all the way till Row U. Being the closest section to the stage, the seats here naturally offer the best views and angles of all the stage. Given the proximity of this section to the stage, the seats here are priced at a premium and are the most expensive in the theatre.
Another consequence of being the closest section to the stage is that if you are sitting in the first few rows (AA - B), you will have to look up slightly to catch all the action as the stage is quite high. However, if you are looking for a great West End experience and have a few extra quid to spare, this section is the way to go. According to audience reviews, the best seats in this section are between Rows A and L. If you are booking seats in the stalls, try getting seats towards the centre of these rows.
Royal Circle
The royal circle overhangs the stalls and makes up the smallest section of the theatre with just 117 seats spread across 6 rows (A - F). Going by popular opinion, the seats in this section, particularly the ones towards the front and centre, offer the best views of the stage in the entire theatre, sometimes even better than the stalls section.
The seats here are not priced as high as the seats in the section below, making it the ideal choice for those looking to enjoy a performance without burning a hole in their pockets. However, given the number of seats here, this section is often the first to get sold out, so if you’re planning for tickets here, make sure you book them fast and early! The best seats here are definitely in the first couple of rows, particularly seats between A7 and A12 (similarly between B7 and B12).
Upper Circle
This is the highest section of the theatre and the furthest away from the stage, hence making it the cheapest. With 150 seats, this section is bigger than the royal circle but smaller than the stalls. If you’re looking to catch a West End performance and are on a budget, this is the section for you.
Keep in mind that as the theatre is not too large, you will not be very far away from the stage and you can thereby still enjoy a pretty decent view of all the action. Having said this, you will still be compromising on the view a bit, given the distance, but the cheaper, bargain tickets should offset this deficit. The best seats here would again be in the first couple of the rows, particularly between Rows A and C.
Which seats offer the best view?
Watching a West End performance is a perfect way to spend a lovely evening, and to make the experience even more enjoyable is to watch it from a great vantage point. The best seats in the house, in terms of view, would be in the stalls section, particularly between Rows E and G. The seats in these rows are recognized as premium seats and they offer viewers a chance to get the best of the action given their angle and placement.
They are neither too close to the stage nor too far from it. Similarly, the seats towards the centre in the first couple of rows of the royal circle (between A - C) offer great views, allowing for a thoroughly immersive West End experience. In the upper circle, the best seats would have to be in Rows A and B, especially seats - A6 to A10 and B9 to B15.
Which Seats Offer the Best Value for Money?
It is not necessary to spend the big bucks in order to enjoy a great West End show, as there are quite a few seats in the house which offer good views of the stage and are still priced moderately well. In the Stalls section, instead of going for the premium seats, you can opt to sit towards the back, beyond Row N, and still enjoy a decent view of the stage.
Likewise, in the Royal and Dress Circle sections, the seats in the middle of the latter rows offer good, elevated views of the stage and are priced cheaper than most other seats in the theatre. As mentioned above, since this theatre is relatively small in size, nearly all the seats offer a decent view of the stage, so no matter where you sit, you will not be disappointed.
