"The cast and creative team behind 'Waitress' pulls off a rare feat"
Based on the 2007 film by the late Adrienne Shelly, "Waitress" tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and an expert baker stuck in a marriage she desperately wishes she could get out of. A celebration of friendship, motherhood and perseverance against the odds, "Waitress" is a splendid Broadway musical production. Currently playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, "Waitress" has been described as a “treat for all the senses” by The New York Post.
The musical stars five-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles as the protagonist. Directed by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus, this soulful production of "Waitress" promises to make you laugh and cry at the same time.

How to Get Last Minute Discounted Waitress Tickets
Waitress Discount Tickets Online
There are dozens of online resources to purchase Broadway tickets. In fact, the majority of theater bookings are made via the web. Often times, specific theaters tie up with ticketing websites such as Telecharge and Ticketmaster. However, in those instances, tickets are generally sold at regular box office prices.
For those looking to book discounted Broadway tickets online, third-party vendors such as TodayTix, SeatGeek and Headout are your best bet. These websites have direct relationships with ticket providers and, thus, are able to offer guests exclusive deals and offers.
When compared with one another, Headout offers some impeccable advantages not provided by any other discount ticket vendor. Aside from TicketMaster and Telecharge, Headout is the only other third- party vendor that allows you to select specific seats.
Headout advantages include:
- Exclusive access to discounts, offers and deals
- Last-minute availability, or the option to book in advance
- Specific seat selection (as opposed to only being able to choose the general area)
- Skip-the-line ticket pickup at the theater, 30 minutes before show time
- Cashback perks on bookings
- 24/7 customer service
Especially when visiting the theater in groups, booking discounted tickets online allows you to save significantly. Headout offers last minute “Waitress" discount tickets on a regular basis.
Waitress on TKTS
TKTS NYC Discount Booths offer a variety of Broadway and Off Broadway tickets at 20% to 50% off regular prices. Tickets can only be purchased in person - on the day of the performance for evening shows, or the day prior for matinee performances. Seats are assigned at the discretion of the TKTS booth attendant and may be partial view.
TKTS obtains its inventory directly from theaters, based upon how a particular show’s tickets are selling at full-price. “Waitress” TKTS tickets are available frequently. For additional information on how TKTS works, see this in-depth guide to the four TKTS booths.
Waitress Lottery Tickets
For those willing to try their luck, entering a lottery can be a great way to score discount Broadway tickets. A handful of theaters host live, same-day ticket drawings a couple hours before performance time. These require your presence and a bit of patience; but, to many, the reward is well worth it.
Currently, there are no “Waitress” lottery tickets available.
Waitress Rush Tickets
RUSH tickets are same-day tickets, usually sold at a highly discounted price. Broadway general RUSH tickets can be purchased by anyone, while student RUSH tickets are restricted for students only. All RUSH tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. They are sold in limited quantities, usually only for performances that do not sell out on their own at regular price. RUSH tickets are subject to any other constraints determined by the provider.
RUSH tickets for “Waitress” are sold daily when the box office opens. Timings are 10 AM Monday to Saturday and 12 PM on Sunday. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability. Tickets are $40 with a limit of two per person; a valid photo ID is required for pick up. Payment can be made via cash or credit card.
Waitress Standing Room Tickets
Standing Room tickets for “Waitress” will be sold on the day of the show, only after it has completely sold out. Patrons can line up outside the theater on performance days, when the box office opens. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, as they become available throughout the day. Tickets are priced at $32, with a limit of two per person. Payment can be made via cash or credit card.
Why Should I Watch "Waitress"?
Directed by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus, "Waitress" is one of last year’s biggest Broadway successes. With a brilliant performance by Sara Bareilles, the production’s uplifting music and comical dialogue bring the story to life. Musical numbers are beautifully written and placed in just the right spot, giving the musical a smooth and graceful flow. Songs from the "Waitress" were released by Sara Bareilles in her album “What's Inside: Songs from ‘Waitress’". The hit album debuted at number ten on the US Billboard 200 chart. "Waitress" was even nominated for the Best Original Score in the 2016 Tony Awards.
But it’s not just the music, or Bareilles’ lyrics that have made "Waitress" a theater favorite. The important story is a reflection of the challenges faced by many working women, and the ways in which they overcome these hardships by strength, perseverance and determination.
Pregnant and caught in a loveless relationship with her husband Earl, Jenna doesn’t have the easiest of lives in the American South. Unable to come to terms with her married life, Jenny finds happiness in her creative pies and her waitress friends, Becky and Dawn. However, a baking competition in the neighboring county proposes itself as Jenny’s glorious chance to break the rut, get out of her failed marriage and begin a new life with her soon to be born baby.
With this rare chance at escape, Jenny must weigh her options and make the right choice. Adding chapters to her life, a new love interest in the form of a handsome doctor further proves things are about to take a turn for Jenna. Throw all of this together, and you get a poignant and touching new American musical.
