Located on the West Street of West End London, St. Martin’s Theatre London hosts the famous Agatha Christie mystery, The Mousetrap. The theatre opened in 1916 alongside the neighboring Ambassadors Theatre. The Ambassadors Theatre is where The Mousetrap first premiered in London in 1952, before it moved to St. Martin’s Theatre in 1974. W.G.R Sprague designed the iconic pair of theatres, and the St. Martin’s theatre is now listed as a heritage building in London.

St. Martin’s Theatre London has seen a variety of performances including Houp La! Meet the Wife; The Grass is Greener, The Wrong Side of the Park and Sleuth. Today, the theatre has been the venue for more than 27,000 performances of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.

Practical Information


Accessible Seating

The St. Martin’s Theatre London has three shallow steps at the main entrance and the staff can assist with wheelchair access. Temporary ramps will be placed at the Dress Circle where the accessible seats are at F1 and Box C1.

Assistive Listening System: You can pick up infrared headsets from the staff in exchange for a nominal deposit.

Bar: The St. Martin’s Theatre London has 3 bars at each of the levels – Stalls, Dress Circle, and Upper Circle.

Guide dogs: Guide dogs are allowed within the theatre, the staff is also happy to dog-sit if needed.

Toilets: The toilets are located at the level of Upper Circle and Dress Circle. There is also a ladies toilet near the Foyer. The disabled toilet with facilities is available outside the Box C in the Dress Circle.

Handy Tips


  • The foyer has a board with the display of the number of shows of ‘The Mousetrap’ and keeps changing every day at the end of the show. Make sure to take a picture with it!
  • The show is recommended for children above 12 years of age and children below the age of 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Please note that children under the age of 5 will not be allowed in the theatre.
  • The theatre has three bars for ordering snacks and drinks, outside food is not allowed. You can also pre-order special drinks including champagne.
  • The theatre is old and there is an issue of legroom especially in the Upper Circle section. If legroom can be a problem, avoid the section altogether.
