Plaza Suite: About The Show

Plaza Suite has been adapted for different mediums since 1979. Neil Simon wrote the play for Broadway and the show debuted in 1968. The classic production was nominated for multiple Tony Awards, with Mike Nichols winning Best Director of a Play. This was followed by a theatrical motion picture and a television movie in 1971 and 1987 respectively.

In February 2020, Plaza Suite will embark on a pre-Broadway run at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston. This production will then transfer to Broadway from 13 April 2020 at the Hudson Theatre. The 2020 adaptation of this classic comedy stars two-time Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick and two-time Emmy Award winner Sarah Jessica Parker. Plaza Suite has been directed by Tony Award winner John Benjamin Hickey. The sets have been designed by John Lee Beatty and its music is by Marc Shaiman.

Plaza Suite: The Story

Plaza Suite features the tale of three couples -- all characters played by Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker -- all set in Suite 719 of New York City's Plaza Hotel.
The first act, titled Visitor From Mamaroneck, follows the story of the married couple Karen and Sam Nash. They revisit their honeymoon suite in a desperate attempt to bring love back into their marriage. Will their plan succeed?
The second act, Visitor from Hollywood, features a meeting between two old flames: Jesse Kiplinger, a movie producer, and Muriel Tate, a suburban housewife. Will the exes reconnect over their past?
The third act, Visitor from Forest Hills, is the story of married couple Roy and Norma Hubley on the day of their daughter Mimsey's wedding. In a flurry of pre-wedding jitters, Mimsey locks herself in the suite's bathroom and refuses to leave. Will she miss her wedding? Find the answers to all three questions at the end of the show!
