I went to the Palace website to buy tickets so was unaware there was a fee associated with the Skop the Line purchase. The Palace was absolutely stunning and well worth seeing. The convenience of buying the tickets ahead wax worth it although the associated fees should be more transparent. I did not become aware until viewing my receipt.

Our guide Irena was absolutely delightful. She had wonderful knowledge and presentation to the art during the Museo de Prado tour. She made the entire experience absolutely memorable for the adults and teens (who are so hard to please). Wonderful personality!

Seek g the kitchens. However there was an issue with out booking. We thought we had booked a palace AND kitchens tour, in English. When we arrived we discovered it was kitchens only, and in Spanish. One of us speaks a little Spanish so was able to u derogando the gist of the explanations. The other had only the visuals of the kitchens to get a sense of them. Also it would have been very helpful to have more clear directions as to where to go to join the tour. We were a little late as we had no ide where to go.

The Royal Palace of Madrid has everything that you would imagine at a royal monument. From age-old archives to rich architectural gems, the Royal Palace of Madrid has enough to explore.

Exterior Architecture

The Palace's main facade, which faces Plaza de la Armeria, is made out of a two-story rusticated stone foundation with Ionic columns and Tuscan pilasters framing the windows of the three major stories. A cornice that encircles the structure and is crowned with a broad balustrade conceals the upper story. This was once ornamented with a number of saints and monarchs statues.

Grand Staircase

It is made of a single piece of San Agustin marble and was built by Sabatini in 1789 when Charles IV requested that it be moved to the opposite side of where Sabatini had placed it in 1760. The landing is adorned with two lions. Corrado Giaquinto painted the frescoes on the ceiling. The elements of water, earth, air, and fire are shown in the four cartouches at the corners.

Royal Library

During Maria Christina's reign, the Royal Library was relocated to the lower floor. The bookshelves are from the reigns of Alfonso XII, Isabel II, and Charles III. The Book of Hours of Isabella I of Castile, a codex from the time of Alfonso XI of Castile, a Bible by Doa Maria de Molina, and Farinelli's Fiestas Reales are among the collection's highlights. The maps in the library, which evaluate the scope of the kingdoms under the Spanish Empire, are also noteworthy.

Royal Apartments

Sabatini created the Halberdier's Room, or Guard Room, which has a Tiepolo fresco, Venus, and Vulcan. The three chambers, which were once the queen's quarters under Charles III, were renovated into a banquet hall by Alfonso XII in 1879 and completed in 1885. Stradivari now has a viola, two violoncellos, and two violins in the Stradivarius Room. Gentleness, accompanied by the Four Cardinal Virtues, is depicted in the ceiling fresco by A. G. Velazquez. The Trinity, Allegory of Religion, Glory, and the Holy Trinity Crowning the Virgin are among the ceiling frescoes by Giaquinto in the chapel, which was designed by Sacchetti and Ventura Rodrguez in 1748.

Royal Armoury

The armory, together with the Imperial Armoury of Vienna, is regarded as one of the best in the world, with pieces dating back to the 13th century. The full armor and weapons that Emperor Charles V used in the Battle of Mühlberg, which were shown by Titian in his famous equestrian painting held at the Museo del Prado, are among the most impressive works.
Along with the Royal Palace, Madrid boasts a rich variety of experiences for visitors. Here are some of the top things to do in the city of Madrid

Prado Museum

The Museo del Prado has a collection of around 7000 artworks, however only about 1500 are currently on show. The neoclassical Palacio de Villanueva, the Prado's western wing, was finished in 1785. The eastern wing, unlike the old Edificio Villanueva, is part of the Prado's beautiful new addition, which opened in 2007. Its greatest feature is the 2nd-floor cloisters, which are dedicated to temporary exhibitions, mainly to display Prado masterpieces that have been stored for decades due to a lack of wall space. Book Prado Museum tickets separately or as part of your combo tickets.

Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

The majestic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home to the famed Real Madrid football team, is a must-see for football lovers. It has a capacity of 81,000 spectators and is a UEFA-classified Elite Stadium with a 5-star grade. A tour of Santiago Bernabéu Stadium features a breathtaking overhead view of the city as well as an introduction to the club's illustrious past and present. Book Bernabeu Stadium tours at Headout.

Banksy Madrid

The renowned Circulo de Bellas Artes has dedicated a show to Banksy, a global artistic sensation whose work has established a cult following and whose identity is still a heavily secured secret. The cosmos established by this iconoclastic artist, who has defied contemporary art's game rules, is represented by 50 pieces in this one-of-a-kind exhibition, which is being shown for the first time in Spain. Book your tickets to the Banksy Exhibition in Madrid.

Royal Palace of Aranjuez

The rulers of Spain's Italian-inspired Spring home began as a great hunting lodge in the 16th century. The palace, as well as the adjacent monuments and gardens, were started by Philip II and finished by Charles III of Spain, resulting in a wide range of styles. The predominant use of white and crimson on the palace's façade is its most distinguishing feature. The Rococo staircase and balustrade by Bonava, as well as the Porcelain Room, with its porcelain-lined walls, are particularly noteworthy for their beauty and master craftsmanship. Book Royal Palace of Aranjuez tickets at Headout.

Thyssen Museum

The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum is an art museum on one of the city's main boulevards, near the Prado Museum. It is part of the "Golden Triangle of Art" which also comprises the Prado and Reina Sofia federal museums. The Thyssen-Bornemisza fills historical gaps in its counterparts' archives: in the case of the Prado, this includes Italian primitives and works from the English, Dutch, and German schools, whereas the Reina Sofia's collection includes Impressionists, Expressionists, and European and American paintings from the twentieth century. Book Thyssen Museum tickets.

El Escorial

The Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, also known as El Escorial, is a historic house of the King of Spain in the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid. El Escorial is the world's biggest Renaissance building, constructed between 1563 and 1584 under King Philip II's orders.
